How to embed a YouTube Video in WordPress?

How to embed a YouTube video in WordPress is the question of today. And the answer is rather simple. If you want to have a YouTube video on your website and you do not want to use a plugin that does the work for you (some of these YouTube plugins for WordPress can give some trouble, especially when you have to update them), you simple go to the video of your choice on YouTube. Somewhere below the video you will see an option that says “Share” and you click on it. A few more options will popup and you choose the option “Embed.”

When you have done that, you will now see the code (starting with the text “<iframe width”) and you can adjust the video size below if you want to. Depends a bit how you want it to show up on your website or blog. Now, you could simply paste this code in the text of your post, but usuallyI do an extra step here. I go to the website of a guy called Dave Wooding, who has a feature on his website where you can adjust this code a little bit more. Go here first. You will see a submit box. Put your embed code in there and click on the submit button.

If you scroll down the page you will now see a lot of extra options, like “Play in HD” and “Modest Branding,” two options I always select. Modest branding gives you the opportunity to have a video on your website that doesn’t show the title of the video within the video player. In my opinion it just looks better. Below I show you the options that you can choose from on the website of Dave.

When you received the code back after you clicked the submit button, you take it and paste it into your wordpress editor using the TEXT tab (not the visual tab) and voila, you have embedded a youtube video in WordPress. Below we embedded one of our own YouTube videos with the options play in HD and modest branding.
